Repost from @benedictcork • ‘Hollywood’ is out now, wherever you are in the world, thanks to everyone who’s been listening and sharing the love around, i wrote this song with my buddies @robertgillies and @greatscottcreates in the middle of quite a blurry time for me. i had been living in stockholm the year before, and then suddenly uprooted to california for some stuff there which was hugely exciting for me; but i was also battling with this constant deep anxiety, homesickness and i was completely broke. when i spoke to my family and friends at the time, they would always comment on how i must be having this wild, epic adventure in hollywood and living their idea of my american dream. but in reality, i hadn't hugged some of the people i love the most for almost a year and i was really confused about the direction my life was heading and what the next few years were going to look like. this song came about in the midst of all of that confusion, and really reminds me that what we project to the outside world, is sometimes not at all what we're feeling on the inside. massive love to @paulstanborough for bringing the production to life, i’m super excited for you to hear the rest of this EP, loads of love, B x 🎥 @kredondo

Honestly I’m not really sure how to begin talking about this song. @benedictcork is a truly unique soul who, ironically, like an angel, floated in to my life to remind me what music is supposed to be about. It’s not supposed to be about the clever hook or the flex on the production (although Bens voice is a GIFT), but about saying something that needs to be said, and giving people a real reason to connect with the music. This song felt so important from the moment we started it, and I guess I subconsciously figured the feeling would fade like it usually does, but it seems to only have grown more special, now on the heels of pride month, and with religious extremists in places like Alabama and Mississippi working everyday to insert themselves into the personal and sexual lives of others on behalf of “God”. As Ben importantly notes- the song isn’t anti-religion, but I hope serves not only as a reminder to some what it really means to love, and where the priorities of love should lay, as well as provides some comfort and solidarity for those out there that have been cast out by their own families because of who they love, their being, their existing in the only way they know how. Know that you’re not alone in the push and pull between old school religion, new school spirituality, and the realities of what organized religion has taught about who we can love and how to love them. Know that we are not bound by these things, and that the boundaries to love are only what you make them. Big thanks to @benedictcork for pouring these feels out to basically a couple of cishetero strangers, blessing us with your voice, and showing true commitment to the craft of record-making. You’re a fucking goddamn superstar!! Thanks to @robertgillies for being an amazing co-writer and co-producer on this one and pushing everyone to be their greatest. Thanks to @iamvincint and @heyitsmariojose for coming over and donating your ridiculous talents to my gospel choir. Thanks to @demifuguemastering for turning this around in an instant and making it knock.
